2D to 3D Neurographic Artwork

Using the inherent fluidity and translucency of glass, I developed a series of kiln-pressed glass discs intended to evoke the inky, watercolour-like appearance characteristic of my neurographic drawings.

Each disc is unique in colour and organic shape, symbolising the individuality and diversity of emotional experiences. The colours were chosen purposefully, drawing on psychological theories of colour and their associated emotional effects, with warm tones expressing vitality or agitation and cooler tones reflecting calm or melancholy. These variations serve to embed emotional content directly into each glass disc.

My work focuses on neurographic art, a visual methodology developed by Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev, which transforms internal emotional processes into abstract visual expressions through structured, flowing lines and organic form

Traditionally rendered in two-dimensional drawings, neurographic art encourages introspection, emotional regulation, and subconscious exploration. My earlier research investigated how the essence of neurographic art can be reinterpreted and expanded into three-dimensional form through material experimentation, specifically in kiln-pressed glass.

Behind the Scenes

Start by cutting the glass

Then cut some more glass. Choose the colours that will blend

This is where the real fun begins - when, despite your best efforts to plan, the process takes its own direction.
